Some GPOs can take two logins to be implemented and also trigger a longer logon cycle. This is because there are two types of GPOs.
- Asynchronous – Processes that do not depend on the outcome of other processes. When logged on, these run every 90 min in the background.
- Synchronous – Processes that must wait for the previous process to finish. GPOs that depend on the user profile or network access. These are triggered by an asynchronous background run or by a logon. Once armed fast logon will be disabled during the next logon. Here are a few:
- Drive Maps
- Folder Redirection
- Software Installation
