To build a user account when the client has a hybrid exchange environment, it is important to start on-premise and migrate the account to 365.
- Copy similar user in AD Users & Computers (not disabled)
- Add Account to Keepass
- In the Exchange Control panel (On-Prem) create the mailbox and add it to a cloud facing server database
- In AD > User > Attribute Editor > proxyAddresses: Ensure these addresses exist
- SMTP: user@domain.com (Actual Email Address)
- smtp: user@domain.onmicrosoft.comĀ (365 User Account)
- smtp: alias@domain.com (optional)
- Verify group memberships for email distribution.
- Allow the account to sync to Azure AD
- In 365 Admin Center assign a license for Exchange or Office Std.
- In 365 Exchange Admin Center > Migration > Migrate to Exchange Online**
- Add user to share contacts in Exchange.
- Setup in Exclaimer online.
- Test Access to Webmail, Verify signature, and add to CRM
**After the migration, the 365 account is ready to receive Emails. Email sent prior may show up after migration.
