365 Hybrid Exchange – User Creation

To build a user account when the client has a hybrid exchange environment, it is important to start on-premise and migrate the account to 365.

  1. Copy similar user in AD Users & Computers (not disabled)
  2. Add Account to Keepass
  3. In the Exchange Control panel (On-Prem) create the mailbox and add it to a cloud facing server database
  4. In AD > User > Attribute Editor > proxyAddresses: Ensure these addresses exist
    1. SMTP: user@domain.com (Actual Email Address)
    2. smtp: user@domain.onmicrosoft.comĀ (365 User Account)
    3. smtp: alias@domain.com (optional)
  5. Verify group memberships for email distribution.
  6. Allow the account to sync to Azure AD
  7. In 365 Admin Center assign a license for Exchange or Office Std.
  8. In 365 Exchange Admin Center > Migration > Migrate to Exchange Online**
  9. Add user to share contacts in Exchange.
  10. Setup in Exclaimer online.
  11. Test Access to Webmail, Verify signature, and add to CRM

**After the migration, the 365 account is ready to receive Emails. Email sent prior may show up after migration.
